Captain's Log/Mission brief 160330
by: Rayne McCloud

Captain's Log
Stardate: 70181.84 (03/08/2393, 09:00 hours)

Today marks a week since we discovered the derelict ship attacked by the Hirogen.  Thus far, the only sign of the vicious species is the derelivt itself.  We have picked up different comms, from commercial traffic, that the Hirogen do not want to face another Starfleet vessel, so they could be avoiding us.  Personally, I think that is just wild speculation.  The Hirogen live for the hunt, no matter the prey, and the more difficult the prey the higher they get within whatever hierarchy the Hirogen observe. So you would think a defeat of a Starfleet vessel would put them right up there.  As such, we will not be letting our guard down.

On another note, I am hoping that we get clearance to return, even briefly, to the Alpha Quadrant.  We have been out here searching for the Independence for over three months and there are members of the crew whom need a break.  Even though we have had lay-overs at some Federation-friendly starbases, they still want to go home.  I have put in my request and Admiral Fyrstk is working on getting a replacement ship out here to assist Pathfinder.

FOR THE SIM:

While we await word from Starfleet, allowing us to return to the Alpha Quadrant, we will resume our search for the Independence.  The alert status has dropped to green, but all crew stations should be on alert.  Just in case.
