T'Shana held her position at full attention unflinchingly, while Commander Svonn gave his speech, despite her puzzlement over his brief but direct eye contact with her. Her mind was racing as he spoke. The Elders Base. She remembered hearing talk about it. It seemed to be a very important location. Why, she wasn't so sure of, but the balance of power in this sector, even in the whole galaxy, seemed to depend on what they would be able to find and accomplish at that base. She had to admit, she was curious about the place. There seemed to be a lot of mystery enveloping the whole issue with the Elders; and mysteries held an irresistible draw to her. She only hoped it was a mystery worth solving. One that would have a positive ending. "I have chosen each of you because you are top of your respective fields." Those words snapped T'Shana out of her contemplations. 'Top of my respective field?' She could only imagine what sort of dumb remark Stronovski would make about that. But in all seriousness, what expertise did the Commander think she had in any field? It was true she was a doctor of theoretic and applied engineering sciences, but she hadn't really revealed much about her education to anyone. Was he simply basing his words on their team effort about their analysis of the slip stream drive failure on the Romulan ship? It was hard to keep her ingenuity from showing through. She was presented with a problem, she would use her smarts to solve it. Or perhaps he had actually studied her fake references, which weren't all fake, but... she suddenly couldn't recall what she had put in her fake resume. 'Damn.' Not a good thing, to lose count on one's own lies. As Svonn finished the briefing and went to enter the Sparta, T'Shana turned to following, but threw a quick glance at Jhu'Rhiana. Evidently, they were taking one of the Romulan attack shuttles and the female flight officer would be piloting it. T'Shana gave Jhu'Rhiana the minutest of smiles before they both boarded their crafts. |
