1926 - "Outcast Once More," by Capt. Hunter
by: Maxwell Richards

ON:

It was three months later.  The debate had continued to rage over Hunter's actions.  Endeavour had arrived back at Earth, and the Captain had accepted an Administrative Discharge for his actions.  Following that, James Hunter had retreated from the public eye to the small cabin his family owned on Assateague Island.  He wanted no contact other than that of the locals on the quaint little fishing village where it was still possible to find people who had no idea what was happening in the rest of the world, much less the Federation.

In addition, he'd let his hair grow longer......though not to the Robinson Crusoe length it had been when he'd been rescued by Columbia and crew.  He'd adopted a beard once more as well.  It made him look nothing like the clean-shaven Starfleet Captain he'd been during the news agency broadcast.

Using his vast amounts of accumulated backpay, he'd purchased a small fishing boat and began taking charters out.

It was a quiet life......and one he enjoyed.  The wind and the sea and the sun burned him clean......helping to remove the feelings of failure that he fought every night while asleep.  His dreams were the last thing he wanted to be rid of.  He'd banished his former life.  Now all he needed was to heal himself of the emotional scars that went with it.
