No more than 2 days later...
Communication with the heart of the Romulan Empire has been sparse. Few reliable reports are coming from the Empire but Starfleet has mobilized rescue missions. Convoys are entering Romulan Space to effect rescues with strict orders to evacuate themselves if another explosion takes place. Thousands of Starfleet, Federation and non-aligned worlds have begun to mobilize.
Suddenly, the largest Hobus Star explosion, yet, takes place. The shock-wave is moving fast, faster than past eruptions and predictions warping time-space. It begins to interfere with long-range communication and transporter systems many minutes before the main wave strikes.
Relatively few have made it to effect rescues. Little time is left to attempt to outrun the fast moving shockwave. Some ships are unable to out run the wave as it comes upon Romulus. Billions remain on the planet, along with billions from other colony worlds.
Word spreads through the galaxy...
