1924 - "Picking Up the Peices" pt 4
by: Maxwell Richards

ON

Lt. Richards made his way from the auxiliary control room.  The second most powerful room on the ship, the bridge being the first.  There was one of these rooms on every starship since the Constitution-class ships.  This room served as a back-up tot he bridge, should anything happen to it.  From here, Max knew he could do the necessary re-routing of power to ensure sick bay had priority.

"Computer.  Open access to the auxiliary control room, authority Richards-Zeta-5-4."

The door slid open and Max entered.  He went straight to the engineering console and brought it to life.  Immediately, complete ship's status was flowing down the screen. Geezis!  We are hurt bad.  Running only on emergency power.  Not good.  Not good at all.

Max started tapping commands into the console.  It was good he had recently taken the creative power-routing challenge, back at Starfleet Command HQ.  Columbia's conduits were fused and ruptured all throughout the ship.  Power to every deck, except the most vital areas was reduced to bare minimum.  Max was able to restore sick bay power to 75%.  That also meant they would not have enough power to open the shuttle bay doors.  So much for that idea.  Well he and the small engineering crew would have to do what they could to get the engines back on line before they ran out of power altogether.
