"A Blip In the Night" DL: Lt. Banning NOTE: This takes place following the sim of 260107. Lt. Troy Banning had put his "two cents" in, concerning the use of Bonestar, which did not have a regular designation, in Federation language. That was because it was actually a combination of different energies that were found in a Milky Way-class nebula. The scooping mechanisms, of the caninoid harvesters, actually pulled a unique amount of several different gasses, in the nebula, and thoroughly combined them, to make up Bonestar. A unique procedure that would take time to perfect. The science officer went back to studying the sensor readings he had been collecting during their transit through the sub-space tunnel, the caninoids had "dug." While some of the readings were similar to a slip-stream corridor, there were other vast differences. The slip-stream corridor was alight with bright blue energies. So much so, that the main screen had to be filtered to not damage one's eyesight. The subspace tunnel, while alive with energy, was a bit darker. Troy furrowed his brows. One sensor reading gave him pause. Amidst the different energies swirling around them was a lone dark spot. It was almost two meters in diameter, and there didn't seem to be any energy coming off it. He watched it flit and swirl about. It seemed to be staying with the ship. Then, it just disappeared. Troy replayed the recording. He tried focusing more on the black spot, but there was no discernible data on it. In fact, it was almost like it wasn't there. But, it was there, staying with the ship for... thirty point five-three seconds, the science officer thought to himself. Could it have gotten in a collector? Pulling up another screen, Troy checked on the individual collectors. They were all clean. Troy sighed and sat back in his chair. Maybe it had been just what it appeared... a spot. When he thought about it, he really shouldn't be surprised it disappeared. It probably met up with a stronger current, and pushed away. But, what if it hadn't? Troy moved back toward his console. He started an internal sensor sweep. To be continued in sim... |
