"We're Going To Need Them"
by: Rayne McCloud

DL: Captain McCloud

On the bridge of the Luna-class, USS Eagle, Captain Rayne McCloud watched as his ship, and the Eagle, of this universe, made certain the Typhon Pact ships that guarded Deep Space 7, were totally disabled. Thankfully, most of their job had already been done for them because of the actions of the Falcon crew.

"I don't think those ships will be going anywhere soon," commented Vice Admiral Quenton Mallory. "We will just have to see to the securing of their crews."

"I'd just leave them imprisoned in their ships," commented Ensign Hiwey, from the helm console. "It's what they would do to us, if not totally destroy our ship."

"But, we are not them," McCloud simply stated from the command seat. the ensign blushed and simply looked back to his board.

"He's not wrong," Mallory commented. "They do have minimum power, enough to maintain life support, so they wouldn't be uncomfortable."

"But we would have to find a way to keep them from restoring systems," McCloud pointed out. "That alone would take up needed resources. For the immediate moment though, it will do to keep them right were they are."

"Agreed," Mallory said. "We could assign a shuttle to just go take out weapons and communications arrays, so we did not have to worry about them restoring weapons, or calling for further help."

Rayne nodded. He, then, looked past the admiral over to his science officer. "Ensign Baker, I would like a complete analysis of the damage to the Pact ships as soon as possible."

"Aye, Sir," Ensign Anita Baker acknowledged from the science console. "I have noted transporter signals within the station, Sir. They have begun transporting crews back into the different starships."

"Good," McCloud responded. "I have a feeling we are going to need them.

"Captain," called out Lt. Commander Hailey Wren. "I have a hail from the station. It is Commodore Hastings."

"Put it on," McCloud simply said.

The screen's image changed from the sight of the different Typhon Pact ships, to that of a man who looked a lot older than he probably was. There was a fresh patch covering his left eye, and just by the look on his face, that was only a fraction of what he'd been made to endure.

"Captain McCloud," Hastings greeted over the open link. In the background, McCloud spotted Commander Dutcher working at a console. It appeared they were in the command and control center of the station. "I cannot thank you enough for what you have done for us."

"I haven't really done anything, Commodore," McCloud replied. "It is the ingenuity of my executive officer, and her team, you have to thank."

"Yes, I realize that," Hastings conceded, "But, they were following your orders to come here in the first place.."

Rayne offered a small smile. "I shall put them in for commendations," the Eagle's captain said. "If not from our Starfleet, then certainly from yours." He had surmised that the man already knew he, and his ship, were not from this universe.

Hastings laughed. "I will be glad to put them in for commendation," he said, a smile coming to his weary face.

"We're glad to h... " Rayne started but was interrupted.

'Captain," Baker called out. "I'm detecting a slip-stream corridor opening."

McCloud acknowledged the science officer's report, then looked back to Hastings. He could see the station's commanding officer receiving a report, as well, no doubt it was about the slip-stream corridor. "Advise the starships to get up to power and out of the starbase as quickly as possible. I think you should contact Captain Fyrstk, aboard the other Eagle, and coordinate with him. As I am sure you can see now, we are about to have company, and they're not just coming for dinner."

Commodore Randall Hastings nodded his agreement. "Yes, I have just seen the sensor reports. We are going to need them out there." The man seemed to straighten a bit more. "I would like you in on the conversation, as well, Captain, so let's get to it. We have a space station to keep."
