=/= CLUB NIGHT =/= A Joint Log between Lt Troy Banning, LT Rob Andrews, Lt Amelia Moore and Ens. Dane Ngyuen. Lt Amelia Moore felt so out of place. She was trying to relax but the lights and the barrage of the music was actually having the opposite effect. Her crewmates seemed to have no trouble relaxing. She arrived with Ngyuen, but she was not as flamboyant, shall we say, and although he was eager for her to join in she wanted nothing more than to turn around, go back to her quarters and change into her sleepwear and go to bed. Amelia let out a sigh, as she remembered she’d made a promise to be the Counselor’s wingman on this outing. What had surprised her the most, perhaps, was seeing the EMH tending bar. She briefly wondered if it was just another hologram character that looked like Resork. She figured she would find out sooner or later, but right now she concentrated on trying to hear what the counselor was saying. Ensign Dane Nguyen, the Eagle's counselor, looked around the club with excitement. He looked at the many different faces, but did not spot the one he was hoping to see. There was a slight show of disappointment in his eyes.. Amelia saw the disappointed look in the counselor's eyes and looked around again."Someone isn't here you hoped would be?" She asked, having to yell to be heard above the din. Dane forced a smile. "Not yet, anyhow," he shouted to her. "Let's get some drinks!" Amelia offered a smile, "Okay, should we move to the bar or find a table" She wasn't sure if that was even going to be possible, since there seemed to be way more people than seats. "Is this how it really was in these kinds of places?" "Oh yeah!" Nguyen said, glee returning to his voice. "So many hot bodies, all... OMIGOD! Look who is bartending!" Dane was pointing to Dr. Resork. Amelia nodded, "Is that the Doc or just another holoimage that looks like him? I wasn't sure about that. " Although she'd never met an EMH quite like Resork before, and the EMH seemed more alive than the standard ones she'd come across. "Only one way to find out," Nguyen declared, and drug Amelia over. "Hey, Doc!" "Dane, Amelia," Resork greeted, as he prepared a drink for another patron. Ameila was dragged to the bar through the crowd. When she heard the greeting from the EMH lifted her eyebrows in surprise, "Is that really you? What are you doing here, Doctor Resork?" "I am mixing drinks, My Dear Nurse," Resork answered happily. "Do you have any of your special wine, Doc?" Nguyen asked. "Am I constructed of photons and force fields?" the EMH asked, placing the drink before the other patron. "I know what I'm having then," the counselor said happily. "What about you, Amelia," Resork asked the nurse. While she might have had something a little stronger for courage before she spoke to Dr Resork, she did not want to look bad and with a sigh she changed her mind, "I'll just have a soda, Thank you." "Looks like someone is the designated driver," Resork joked. He quickly filled two glasses with the drink orders and placed them on the bar. "Thanks, Doc," Nguyen said, taking a sip of the wine. "Oh, that is so delicious." He glanced around the bar, again, and Amelia saw his eyes widen. Amelia took her soda and sipped it, "Not sure that counts here, since we would be walking. But I guess so." She turned in time to see Dane's eye open larger. "I take it that special someone has arrived, Counselor?" "Over there," Dane said, almost like a teenager with a secret crush. He pointed across the bar, and there stood Troy Banning. He was wearing the emerald green v-neck shirt, and was talking with another person. "Well, why don't we go on over and say hi," Amelia said taking Dane's arm in hers to guide them over without letting Dane object. After, isn't that what a wingman was for. "But... But, he's talking to someone," Dane protested, but he allowed himself to be led around to where the others stood. Banning, the ship's chief science officer, saw them approach and smiled. "Counselor, Nurse Moore! So good to see you both," Banning greeted. Amelia smiled, "Thank you Lt Banning. You look very nice this evening, Doesn't he, Dane?" She turned her head to the counselor trying to hide the smirk on her face. "Oh Dear, I left my drink over there, I'll be right back!" "No, no," Nguyen stammered, but Amelia was already half way to the bar. He turned back to Troy, whose smile was so damn charming. "You... you do look v... very nice." "Thanks, Counselor," Banning replied. "You look really nice too, so different from seeing you in uniform." As Amelia grabbed her drink, she heard another voice. "I didn't expect to see you here, Nurse Moore." It was Lt. Andrews, the ship's chief of security and tactical department. Amelia turned to face Lt. Andrews, "Well, I would not have been if Dr Ngyuen hadn't insisted I come and relax. Although, I am not sure if it's that relaxing." She chuckled lightly, "I would not have thought too many other crew would be here. But I was definitely wrong about that." Andrews nodded "A lot of the single crewmen love club night. It was actually Counselor Nguyen's suggestion, and the captain agreed. Might I be so bold to say that you really look lovely?" Amelia blushed at the compliment, "Thank you, Lt. If I may be as bold, that color looks very good on you. It suits you!" Andrews smiled warmly. "Thank you," he said with a slight nod and some genuine humility, "and, please, call me Rob." "Thank you Rob, "She smiled, "And please, it's Amelia." She glanced back towards where she'd left Dane and Lt Banning, "So this was all Dane's idea? He must use this program a lot if he's got every joining him for a club night." "Just once a week," Andrews said. He, too, glanced toward the counselor and science officer. "It's about time the two of them got together." Amelia chuckled at that, "Yeah, I sort of had to drag Dane over there and abandon him so he would ... well, be forced to converse with the object of his desire." Amelia took another sip of her soda and turned to face Rob again, "So he does this every week? " "Indeed he does," Andrews confirmed. "This is, like, my second time here. I am not, typically a 'night club' type person, but I thought I would give it a try tonight, just to blow off some steam." Amelia nodded, "I have never been to a night club before tonight. It's seems rather crowed and way too loud for my tastes to do on a weekly basis. But I guess it's good for blowing off steam. And after these past few days I could use it!" "Would you like to dance?" Andrews asked, nodding toward the main dance floor where people were moving about, pumping their arms, and seeming to be having a good time. Amelia looked at the dance floor, "I can try, but that's something I not too good at, as far as I know at least." Andrews smiled and lightly grasped her arm. "I'm not very good, either, but I don't think any of them care." Amelia laughed as she was guided to the dance floor, "No, I don't suppose that have any feelings about our combined lack of skill on the dance floor. Shall we at least try not to crash into any of them?" "We can certainly try," Andrews quipped, "but I am not making any promises." The two moved to the music. Andrews was surprisingly light on his feet, and definitely had rhythm as he moved to the music. As Amelia danced, she suddenly felt someone bump into her. Turning, she saw it was Dane. He had this wide Cheshire cat grin as he danced. Amelia was amazed at how well Andrews could dance, He was so graceful as he moved. In comparison she felt like an elephant to his gazelle. As if to confirm this someone bumped into her, or her into him, she couldn't quite tell. But when she turned it was to see an obviously very please Dane on the dance floor behind her. She gave him a wink, "Looking good, Counselor!" She turned back to her own dance partner and tried to mimic some of what he was doing. "You're looking like you're not doing too bad, either," Nguyen said to her. He was now almost beside her, but facing the other way. "Let your body feel the music, though. You look a little bit like you've got a stick someplace unpleasant." Amelia frowned, "If you recall I told you I couldn't dance. I'm trying here!" She concentrated on trying to follow what Rob was doing, and it was evident from the look on her face. "Don't worry," Nguyen said as he bumped his hip to hers. "I'll have you moving smoothly in no time, just... later." He moved away from her to get closer to Troy. Rob leaned closer to her. "Don't let him get you down. You're doing fine." Amelia shook her head as Dane moved away again. Well at least she got him to where he could talk to Banning. She let out a small sigh before Rob leaned in to speak. She smiled up at him, "Oh I know I'm not that good, but thanks. It always feels weird to me. I mean I never can figure out what to do. But you, on the other hand, look like a natural. You make it look so easy." Andrews faltered ever so slightly, at the compliment. "Me? A natural? Maybe it's just my security training. Would you like to go... some place more quiet?... Just so we can talk." * Amelia nodded, "I would love that. I never was good in crowded noisy places. " She moved off the dance floor with Rob, "Any suggestions of where to go?" The Eagle's Nest should be nice quiet, with everyone dancing here," Andrews suggested. "And I don't think you have to worry about the counselor." He nodded in their direction, where Nguyen and Banning were dancing, quite, seductively together. * Amelia nodded, "That sounds more my speed." She glanced over her shoulder at Dane and Troy and smiled. "I don't think he'll miss his wingman at all. She nodded to Rob, "Off the the Eagle's Nest it is!" =/= END JL =/= |
