"Good To Be Back Home Again" w/Dr. Terra Ane
by: Lukas Fyrstk

"Good To Be Back Home Again
by Rear Admiral Fyrstk & Dr. Terra Ane

Terra Ane was sitting at the table with her children having lunch, her kids moping as they had been for the past several weeks since Luna, Jessica, Rohan and Ronov had left with their father to spend time with family back on earth for the holidays. Terra knew that the Fyrstk family was due back in the next couple of days, but she didn't have an actual date for their return. Terra missed them all as much as the kids did. They were as much her family as Celeste and Noble were, and the kids were usually inseparable. They had been that way since they were born.
"What do you say we go spend some time in the Holo suite after lunch? I'll even let you guys pick the program!" She hoped to get their minds on something else, if even for a short time.
It was hard to keep them entertained. Noble hadn't even gotten into trouble in the last few weeks since Rohan and Ronov were gone. That was definitely not like her son at all! He was usually into some kind of mischief.
Both kids just kind of shrugged their shoulders at the suggestion. "They will be back soon." Terra reassured her children. "I miss them too."
After lunch, Terra sat down at her desk in her quarters to check some files and messages before heading out with the kids to the holo deck. A smile sprang to her face as she saw the message of the department head meeting called by Lukas, since he was returning to the station. The kids were going to get a real surprise on their way to the holo deck. Terra knew the kids would forget all about the holosuite when they saw Luna, Ronov, Rohan and Jessica, and that would make it easier for her to leave the kids and go to the meeting, without disappointing the kids too much. Terra also made note of the new crew arrivals, and sent a message to Medbay to schedule the new crew for physicals in the next couple of days.
She finished a few other odds and ends quickly and looked at the chronometer. It was time to get going. Terra turned off her computer and turned to the kids. "Ok guys, let's go!"

As they headed out of their quarters, the kids weren't really paying attention to where they were going. It took the kids a few moments to register that mom had stopped and rang a door chime. But it took them no time at all to register who's quarters the door belonged to. Almost at the same time the questions started, the door opened to the Fyrstk quarters.
"Hi, Aunt Terra," came the young voice of Jessica Fyrstk, followed immediately by the girl practically leaping into the chief medical officer's arms.  "I missed you so much."
"Who is it Jess," came Lukas' voice from inside the quarters.  They had just barely gotten back into their quarters and started unpacking.
"It's Aunt Terra, Celeste and Noble," Jessica shouted back into the open door.  Almost immediately Rohan and Ronov (who, the latter of which, was only half dressed) came bursting out into the corridor and were immediately upon Noble. Both boys were telling Terra's youngest of the improvements to the Pathfinder and how quickly they had made the journey from Earth back to the station.
Terra caught Jessica and gave her a huge hug, then quick hugs to the boys heads before all three of the boys raced back into the Fyrstk quarters after whatever new toy or invention was involved in their discussion.  Terra put Jessica down and walked into the room.
"Welcome back Lukas!" Terra greeted as the girls raced into the other room just steps behind the boys.  "I am so glad you guys are back."  Terra then noted the new rank insignia on the collar.  "I see congratulations are in order!"
"Congratulations?" Lukas immediately asked, genuinely.  He then caught Terra's gaze upon his collar. "Oh!" His fingers went to the new flag rank pip.  "Yeah, Ah'm not so sure whether it's a good thing or bad.  With it comes new responsibilities. Did you get the message about the senior staff meeting?"
"But of course, how do you think I knew you were back?!"  Terra's smile teased him.    "Pressure from up top a little more than you wanted to fight, or they made you some promises that you couldn't refuse?"  Terra kept her tone light knowing that Luna and Celeste were only a few feet away and were all ears.  Those girls were just too bright for their own good sometimes.
Lukas offered a slight shrug.  "They didn't really give me much of a choice, and being pretty much desk-bound anyway, Ah didn't fahght the promotion.  Ah guess it was either be promoted or move asahde for the admiral they would put here, because of the new mission for the station."
"And I take it we'll find out about this new mission at the staff meeting in...," looking at the clock, "Fifteen minutes?"  She looked towards the other room where all the kids disappeared to.  "Do you think they will even notice if we leave?"
Lukas chuckled.  "Only if they want some..."
"Ronnie!" came Luna's irritated voice.  "Get some clothes on!"
"Dad! Dad!" the ten-year-old twin exclaimed as he ran into the living room and around to his father now wearing only a pair of undershorts.  In his left hand he clutched a pair of pants.  "Can we go down to th' hangar bays? Noble wants ta see th'..."
"Where are your clothes," Lukas demanded. "We have guests!"
"Oh yeah," Ronov replied, not really caring.  He quickly tried pulling on the clean pair of pants as he hopped on one leg. "So, can we?  Noble wants ta see th' new..."
"No.  You cannot go to th hangar bays," Lukas responded.  "But what you CAN do, once you get dressed, is show Noble the upgrades on one of hte holo-decks, IF one is available."
"YES!" Ronov whooped, and he was off, once again to his room.  "HEY NOBLE! We can...." And then his voice was more muffled as he was once again in his room.
Lukas shook his head and looked back to Terra.  "That boy would run around naked if he could."
"Does," correct Luna with a sarcastic note from where her and Celeste had been talking.
"Rahght.  Does," Lukas agreed.  "Luna, Aunt Terra and Ah are headed to the staff meeting.  We shouldn't be too long."  He then nodded to his chief medical officer and close friend.  "Shall we?"
